VPIC Programs
Family Consultant Program

The purpose of the Family Consultant Program is to provide individualized support to families of children with special needs regarding their child's education, behavior, development, and transition to adulthood. A VPIC family consultant offers encouragement and information and helps parents to link with community services.

When you contact VPIC, you will be referred to a family consultant. A family consultant provides one-to-one support to families on the phone or in person. The consultants will work with you in identifying supports and services you feel would be most helpful to your child.

Family consultants can also help parents prepare for school and other meetings about their child. As available, our staff can also attend Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 and other meetings with families.

Through the one-to-one support we  provide, you can learn about education programs, disabilities, and community resources. You can also get copies of relevant articles, fact sheets and brochures.

Education, disability, social work, health and other professionals can contact a family consultant for help and information regarding children with special needs and their families.
