About VPIC

Some Reasons for Referring Parents to VPIC:
  • provide families with information and support about their child's special needs
  • help families understand the education process and help prevent or restore communication breakdowns between parents and schools
  • help parents understand how to navigate systems
  • help parents identify, access and advocate for community resources
  • provide information and support regarding steps families can take to advocate for their child's educational, developmental, mental health and other needs
  • review information with parents contained in medical, educational and other records
  • link parents with other parents in their communities
  • help families prepare for meetings and, when necessary, attend meetings with the family and help them to review what has happened at a meeting
